Jack started his acting career in Durban performing on the community theatre circuit while studying a BA (Law) at the University of Natal. After graduating in 1993, he joined the Durban Metropolitan Police Service and served until 2002.
He started work on SABC 3’s flagship daily drama Isidingo in 2002 and has since performed in numerous TV and film productions, including the heist action movie 31 Million Reasons for which he received a SAFTA nomination as ‘Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film’.
He played a leading role in the feature film Greytown Girl, which was awarded ‘Best African Film’ at the Cannes Film Awards 2025. He has received numerous awards for his performances on TV, including a 2023 Royalty Soap Award as ‘Best Villain’ for his role as Sunny Maharaj on eTV’s Imbewu. He continues to build on the body of work that has earned him recognition on the African continent and beyond.
Some of Jack’s most memorable career highlights include summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in 2015 as part of the Trek4Mandela drive to provide sanitary packs to school-going girls. He has participated in discussion panels at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights in Geneva; and presented views on AI at a side session of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro at the Seminar on Policies for the Creative Economy – G20 + Ibero-America.
He is a patron of the Trauma First Responders Chaplaincy; and the South African Firefighters Youth Development Association (SAFYDA) Cadet Program. Jack remains committed to building solidarity within the performance sector by serving as Chairman of the South African Guild of Actors (SAGA). He is at the forefront of lobbying for actor royalties and has made numerous presentations to parliament and various Government departments on issues of industry transformation and regulation.
Jack maintains strong connections with law enforcement authorities and serves in a civilian capacity in the KZN Human Trafficking Task Team. He is a communications consultant, presenting skills workshops to corporate clients and innovation hubs as Creative Director of Ferguson Media.
